British Cars

I actually never thought much about British cars other than that they were notoriously unreliable, until I happened to acquire a 1971 Triumph TR6 convertible in 1993. Her name was quickly discovered to be Amanda, and I found that for someone who likes to anthropomorphize his possessions, a British convertible is perfect. Cranky, demanding, yet ever so happy if on a curvy road in spring or fall with the top down, she's a great car. The thought of buying anything other than one of the five or six British cars I covet now seems weird. In deference to her, I maintain a TR6 web page which, although of course not an original idea, has links to existing information and images about these cars as well as what information I can find that doesn't seem to be online already. What would I do if I didn't have a British car? See below.

My Mister Two

Well, I have recently been without my beloved Amanda for reasons beyond my control (being rear-ended by some schmuck in Somerville, resulting in damage to both ends of the car...but not the frame, thank Lord). Upon realizing that I would not have the TR back until spring, I began to hunt for an alternative...and as I had foreseen in a earlier version of this page, I acquired a Mk. I Toyota MR2. Now what do I lust after? Why, when I'm rich, of course, I'll have a late-year Mk. II MR2 Turbo. Heeheeheeheeheehee. The MR2 pictured above is not mine; as soon as pictures are available, they'll show up here.

This just in! Toyota heard my whining. After I get my used 1995 Turbo Mk. II, I'm gonna get me an MR-S, or whatever they end up calling it. For more info on this car, which Car and Driver has said will cost around $18-19K in 1998 or 99, see the MR2 page, or check out these pictures fron the Tokyo Motor show et al:

Motorcycles

Although I don't have an excessively cool bike, I do enjoy it. I'm the proud owner of a 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr 750, one of the last before they lost the legal battle and changed the name to the much less cool ZR750. As for Web links, here's one to the Denizens of Doom, an Internet Riding Group. Live to Flame, Flame to Live!
