Vessels Named Repulse

The name Repulse carries with it a long and proud tradition in the navies of Terra (ref. Earth, Sol III) as well as in the starfleets of various worlds. Below are some of the vessels to carry this name onto the high seas of water and space and into battle. Thanks to Kevin Stall and Steve Johnson for their excellent reference sites which are linked to below on the vessel images or names.

The Repulse is an Excelsior-class starship in the UFP Starfleet. She is designed as a general purpose vessel; for exploration, patrol, search and rescue, combat, diplomatic and other missions as required. The lead vessel of this type, the U.S.S. Excelsior (originally NX-2000) was the testbed for the Transwarp Drive fiasco. Despite this, the type proved most adaptable and capable when fitted with conventional Warp drive, and the refitted Excelsior was the first ship to observe the fatal detonation of the Klinzhai moon Praxis while on a mapping mission under Captain Hikaru Sulu. The Repulse is a later Excelsior-class starship, and has been extensively refitted over time to incorporate technological advances and doctrinal and design modifications.

This workspace contains a simplified diagram of the Repulse which may be viewed online, and there is more information available on the crew of the Repulse. More detailed information is classified.
